San Diego Comic Convention has announced the first in-person convention since 2019. The event will take place at the San Diego Convention Center from November 26 through November 28. "Hopefully this event will shore up our financial reserves and mark a slow return to larger in-person gatherings in 2022." Comic-Con International said in their statement.

The announcement has not gone without some backlash with some questioning why the event is being held on a holiday that most Americans did not have the opportunity to celebrate last year with their families. The decision to hold the "Comic-Con Special Edition" as an in-person event is seen as attempt to stem the tide of crippling losses that has hit the lucrative comic convention industry.

The convention will likely limit the number of attendees based on local guidelines. More information about ticket pricing, capacity restrictions and other details will be announced closer to the show’s date.
